An unbeaten 63 from NSW all-rounder Moises Henriques guided St George to a six-wicket win over Sydney University at University Oval on Sunday and a share of the Sydney Grade competition lead.

Henriques cracked five boundaries in an 81-ball knock as St George chased down Sydney University’s 9-196 off 50 overs to finish 4-197 with eight balls to spare.

He was well assisted by Graeme Rummans (45), Luke Reynolds (32) and Trent Copeland (28), while Greg Mail was the best of the Sydney University bowlers with 2-24 off 10 overs.

The Students had set a useful target on the back a patient 67 from opener Ed Cowan and a quick-fire 50 off 51 balls from Shane Stanton.

The win moved St George to a share of the competition lead with Sydney University on 59 points and marginally in front on the Club Championship ladder.

Eastern Suburbs and Northern Districts share third spot on 51 points, while Gordon (44) and Penrith (43) make up the top six with five rounds to play.

It had been a mixed weekend for the Students, who were staring down the barrel of another defeat on Saturday when the heavens opened to wash out play for the day and force a draw in their two-day fixture against Mosman.

Mosman had made 168 the previous Saturday and had Sydney University 5-56 at stumps at Allan Border Oval.

Sydney University have four two-day fixtures – against Northern Districts at Waitara Oval and at home against Manly-Warringah, Sydney and Penrith – and a one-day match against North Sydney to round out the competition and hopefully a minor premiership and Club Championship.
