Elite Athlete Program member, SUFC standout, and the University of Sydney Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Law student, Beau Morrison, is set to make his Australian Men’s Sevens debut at the Cape Town 7s this weekend, a major milestone for one of Sydney University’s most promising young rugby players.

Morrison has been rewarded for his strong performance and rapid development, earning selection in a national squad featuring a blend of experienced campaigners and exciting new talent. His call-up marks a significant step in a rising career that has seen him excel across club rugby and high development pathways.

Balancing elite sport with a demanding double degree, Morrison has become a standout within both the Sydney University Football Club and the Elite Athlete Program, known for his professionalism, work ethic, and on-field impact. His progression into the national sevens environment underscores the strength of Sydney Uni’s rugby pathways and the opportunities available for student-athletes willing to put in the work.

With the Australian Men’s Seven squad navigating injuries and squad rotation early in the season, Morrison steps into a side eager to build momentum. His debut comes at a pivotal time, with the squad embracing new energy and fresh voices as they look to rebound strongly on the SVNS circuit.

Cape Town provides a high-pressure environment for any debutant, fast crowds, world-class opposition, and the intense pace that defines international sevens. But for Morrisons, it also opens the door for a breakout moment on the global stage.

Morrison’s selection highlights the importance of strong university pathways and the unique model offered at Sydney Uni, where athletes can pursue academic excellence while competing at the highest level. His achievements reflect the discipline required to succeed in both arenas.

From everyone here at the Sydney Uni Sport, we would like to congratulate Beau on this terrific achievement.
