Dual Olympian Belinda Snell found her range at Sydney Uni Sports and Aquatic Centre on Friday night and visiting Logan Thunder were on the receiving end.
The Soouthern Design Sydney Uni Flames forward found the target with five of her six three-point attempts and eight of her 12 field goal attempts to top-score for the hosts with 23 points in their 82-67 win.
The Flames and Townsville Fire remain unbeaten after four games of the Women’s National Basketball League 2010-11 season and the return of Snell to her old stamping ground has certainly benefitted the Sydney Uni outfit.
As well as dominating the scoring, Snell added nine rebounds and five assists in a busy game that showed the benefits of a number of seasons in the WNBA and the Spanish Women’s League.
She was helped on the scoreboard by Amy Denson, Alicia Poto and Eva Afeaki, who each scored 16 points.
The Flames played without guard Natalie Stafford, who was a last minute withdrawal due to injury.
Renae Camino led the way for the Thunder with 15 points, while Sarah Graham added 14 points and import Cory Montgomery 12 points.
The visitors, who arrived at Sydney University with an unbeaten record for the season, were blown away in the opening term as the Flames built a 29-14 lead at the first break.
The hosts kept the roll going to lead 49-26 at the main break and although the Thunder rallied in the third term and outscored the Flames in the final term, it only added some respectability to the scoreboard.
The Flames will be favourites to maintain their unbeaten run when they host Bendigo Spirit (two from four) on Saturday night – tip-off at 7pm.
