After a brilliant day on the track yesterday, Sydney Uni Men’s and Women’s teams have taken out the gold medal in Athletics.

They were victors in six events yesterday including the Women’s 400m Hurdles, Women’s 800m, Women’s 5000m, Women’s Discus, Women’s 4 x 400m and Men’s 200m.

The swimming competition also came to a close yesterday with Sydney Uni finishing second overall behind UNSW. Some highlights from the pool were the triumphs in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay and 4 x 50m medley relays where the teams both won gold medals and broke record times.

Keelan Bridge also won gold in the 200m backstroke and Hayley Abood was named in the Green and Gold team.

The Sydney Uni Rowing team has also had a very successful week thus far, with most of the men and women’s squads competing in finals today.

Women’s Table Tennis also won gold yesterday, they fought off Melbourne University to win convincingly 6 – 2.

In addition, we have a number of other sports in semi-finals today including Men’s Rugby 7’s and Men’s and Women’s Water Polo. Should these teams win they will join a host of other Sydney Uni sports competing in gold medal matches.

That list includes; Baseball, Men’s Ultimate Frisbee Division Two, Handball, Women’s Hockey, Men’s Tennis, Women’s Touch, Women’s Soccer and Women’s Basketball.

Athletes have had an extremely busy week, but with competition finishing today it looks as though Sydney Uni will place extremely well in the overall medal tally.
