Sydney University consolidated their hold on the second rung of the NEAFL ladder with a 37-point win over Canberra Demons at Drummoyne Oval on Saturday.

The Students accounted for Canberra Demons 85-48 in the Anzac Day round to keep in touch with competition leaders, Sydney Swans after four rounds.

The undefeated Swans are on 16 points, with Sydney University, Northern Territory Thunder and Aspley Hornets all on 12 points. The Students hold down second place on percentages.

Nicky Widmar kicked three of Sydney University’s 12 goals on Saturday, with Mitch Thompson 2, Jacob Derickx 2 and Matthew Rawlinson each kicking two.

Sydney University travel to Brisbane this weekend to take on fourth-placed Aspley, while the Swans will also be in the Queensland capital to take on last-placed Brisbane Lions.
