Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) representative Nat Archer has finished sixth at the Sydney Ten event staged at Olympic Park, Homebush on Saturday morning.

Running in wet and cold conditions, the SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder (who is studying a Bachelor of Science at The University of Sydney) claimed sixth position in the women’s 10km road race event. Archer finished third in the NSW Road Running Championships (as there were one international and two interstate competitors ahead of her).

Archer slashed more than 90 seconds of her best time for the course, continuing a phenomenal run of performances. She has run personal best times in 14 of her last 16 races.

Archer’s big run helped SUAC to win the women’s team race on the day and elevated the SUAC women back to the top of the table in the Winter Premiership. The other members of the SUAC women’s team were Em Ryan (24th), Claire Raper (27th), and Jenny Blundell (30th).

In the men’s event, SUAC’s best competitor was Neil Berry (10th). Russell Dessaix-Chin finished 12th, Pete Costello 21st and Nick Bellemore 26th. SUAC were second in the men’s team event and like the women now sit atop the Winter Premiership table. Both the men’s and women’s team are the Winter Premiership defending championships.

The next event on the winter calendar is the Team Walks and the X-Country Relays held later this month.
