Sydney Uni Sport Elite Athlete Program (EAP) student Allanah Pitcher is set to represent Australia on the global stage once again, named in the national team for the 2026 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championship in Brazil.

The championship, to be held in Brasilia on April 12, will bring together the world’s best race walkers, with Australia sending a strong 17-athlete contingent across multiple events.

Allanah has been selected in the women’s half-marathon race walk team, lining up alongside some of the country’s top performers as Australia looks to continue its rich history in this discipline. A selection milestone in what has already been an impressive rise through the ranks of Australian athletics.

A current University of Sydney student and EAP athlete. Pitcher has steadily built her reputation on both the national and international stage.

She has represented Australia in multiple championships, including the World Athletics Championships and World University Games, where she contributed to a silver medal in her performance.

Her progression has been marked by standout performances across distances, from 20km to 35km, highlighted by personal bests of 1:32:14 (20m) and 2:47:26 (35km), placing her among the country’s leading endurance walkers.

Still at 22, Pitcher has already demonstrated the resilience and tactical maturity required to compete at the highest level, including a top 25 finish at the World Championships in Budapest.

With the global spotlight turning to Brasilia, Allanah will once again don the green and gold, contributing to an Australian team aiming for both individual success and podium contention.

From Sydney Uni Sport, her selection is another proud moment, reinforcing the strength of its Elite athlete Program and its role in developing athletes capable of competing at the highest level.
