ACUVUE Sydney Uni Flame Eva Afeaki, has achieved her goal of playing representative basketball for Australia.

Afeaki was selected, along with teammate Alicia Poto, to be part of the 16 member National Opals team to tour China and Europe in May.


‘I’m happy to have been selected in the touring camps as this was my main goal whilst I was at the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) training camp,’ said Afeaki.


The players are excited to be able to tour China with their coach, Karen Dalton, who has been selected to assist Head Coach of the Opals Carrie Graf.


In China, the team shall take on the Chinese national women’s team – currently ranked 5th in the world – in a 3 game series on the 15th, 17th and 19th May.


The team will then travel to Varese, Italy from the 20th-30th May for a training camp before playing the Czech Republic team – who are ranked 7th in the world. Followed by a game against Hungary.


The European tour will come to a head at the international tournament in Paris. Australia will meet the Czech Republic, Hungary, and France.
