Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) will host the 2008 Annual Sports Awards this coming Monday, 6th April, in The Great Hall.
The biggest awards of the night are sure to be Sportswomen of the Year’ and Sportsman of the Year’. The Sportswomen of the Year’ finalists include; Alex Croak – Diving, Taniele Gofers – Waterpolo, Susan Pratley – Netball, and Sarah Stewart – Wheelchair Basketball. The Sportsman of the Year’ finalists include; Stuart Clarke – Cricket, Matt Jaukovic – Swimming, Lachlan Renshaw – Athletics and Phil Waugh – Rugby Union.
SUSF would not be able to achieve such excellent sporting feats if it was not for the wonderful work from Club Administrators. The Female Club Administrator of the Year’ finalists include; Megan Donnelly – Athletics, Christine Etter – Swimming, Leanne McKee – Waterpolo Women, and Helen Scott – Touch. The Male Club Administrator of the Year finalists include; Mario Ferraro – Fencing, Tom Mallet – Sailing, Jason McLeannan – AFL Men, and John Murray – Soccer.
The Ann Mitchell Award is awarded to the SUSF team with the best results at the Australian University Games. The Ann Mitchell Award’ finalists include; Cricket Men, Soccer Women, and Waterpolo Women.
Due to the strength of SUSF’s clubs, the Club of the Year’ category has been broken down into two categories. The Club of the Year’ finalists include; American Football, Athletics and Volleyball. The Premier Club of the Year’ finalists include; Boat/Rowing, Rugby Union Men and Swimming.
Again, the strength of SUSF’s is so strong that the Coach of the Year’ category has been broken down into two categories. The Coach of the Year’ finalist include; Stephen Dunne – American Football, and Paul Howse – Cricket Women. The Premier Coach of the Year’ finalists include; Steve Alderman – Swimming, Damien Hill/Anthony Eddy/Trevor Woodman – Rugby Union Men, and Matthew Phelps – Cricket Men.
Adam Spencer, who also plays soccer for SUSF, has graciously accepted to be the Master of Ceremonies for the night.
