Scolarest, the market leading food-service provider to Australia’s education sector, has announced a new partnership with the Universities Women’s Cricket Club (UWCC) in Sydney to support young female cricketers in reaching their sporting goals.
Scolarest’s Director of Business Development, George Michaelides, says the caterer’s values of ‘Eat, Learn, Live’ make it a perfect fit for UWCC, the organisation that administers cricket for women and girls at both the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales.
“Scolarest’s values align very closely with those of UWCC, an organisation that itself promotes the virtues of ‘Study, Play, Achieve’,” said Mr Michaelides.
“We are dedicated to nurturing a holistic approach to healthy lifestyles for the students that we cater for and supporting an organisation such as UWCC, which promotes an active lifestyle, is an important part of this.
“Scolarest is delighted to become UWCC’s main sponsor and believes the sponsorship will provide enduring benefits for the club, the parent universities, feeder schools and female cricket in general,” said Mr Michaelides.
David Mifsud, UWCC Club Secretary, said the support from Scolarest will help the club immensely.

“The sponsorship is allowing us to achieve the Club’s strategic objectives and, in particular, is helping us to develop better skilled female cricketers with the creation of a specialised coaching unit run by our own international, state and senior players including Australian Vice captain Alex Blackwell.
“Since forming the relationship with Scolarest, the Universities Women’s Cricket Club has grown its player numbers by 40 per cent with over 90 registered players ranging from primary aged girls through to Australian representatives, and now has more teams than any other women’s cricket club in NSW.
“With Scolarest’s assistance over the next three years we will be able to ensure expert coaching for all players at all stages of development in an environment that emphasises the importance of participation, skill development and healthy living,” said Mr Mifsud.
