Sydney University’s Division One men’s Australian Football team completed their giant-killer end-of-season run with a nail-biting 53-52 win over Pennant Hills Demons in the 2015 Grand Final at Henson Park on Sunday.

A generous gift to fund a world-class, high performance gymnasium at Sydney University will benefit more than 400 elite athletes who train at the University’s facilities each year.

Sydney University and NSW opener Nick Larkin opened the 2015-16 season in style, top-scoring in the Students’ rain-shortened limited overs win over North Sydney in the first round of the Sydney grade cricket competition at Tunks Park on
Saturday.

The Stars got back to winning ways defeating their Sydney-based rivals the Greater Western Sydney Rams 44-32 at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, September 27.

Sydney Uni Velo rider Lauren Fitzgerald has capped off a strong season, winning the NSW State Road Championships in Marulan on Sunday, September 27.

Sydney Uni Athletics Club has won both the men’s and women’s 2015 Winter Premiership.

On Sunday 23 September, 520 students and 10 accompanying Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness staff will depart for the Gold Coast on a mission to retain the Australian University Games title.

As the club AFL season wraps up, Sydney University was once again heavily involved in the festivities. Three teams played in a final on the weekend, with the Division One men getting the job done in their preliminary final, the Division 3 men taking home the premiership and the Division One women losing a tough grand final after finishing minor premiers in the regular season. 

Sydney University women’s Australian Football half forward Nicola Barr has won the 2015 Rising Star Award in the Sydney Division One competition.
