Sydney Uni Netball club (SUNC) has a number of different netball options which run throughout the year, catering for all abilities. Further information surrounding any of our competitions can be found on their social platforms. See links below.
Since the 2017 merger with IWSNA, Sydney Uni has submitted women’s, men’s and mixed teams into the Saturday afternoon winter competition, which is held between April and September at Cintra Park in Concord. Grading is in early March, and teams have the option of training on Tuesdays (8-10pm) and Thursdays (6:15-8pm). This competition is for both students and non-students alike. It is recommended you register with IWSNA here.
Since 2019, Sydney University has entered both mixed and women’s squads into Teal Cup, a Sydney based competition hosted by UTS. Held in April and May and only available to current students, this competition is used as match practice for our nationals squads against some of the best university squads, including UNSW and Macquarie Uni. In 2025, the mixed team beat Macquarie University 30-27 in the final.
Sydney University also enters a mixed team into the Uni Tri-Series competition, where in 2025 Sydney Uni were the overall champions.
The pinnacle of University Sport, the Nationals competition is held annually in Semester 2 at locations across the country. It is a week long tournament featuring universities from across the country competing for the champion title. The 2026 tournament will take place in Perth. Trials will take place mid-year. Keep an eye on our socials for dates.
In 2024, we saw Gold for our mixed team, and in 2025 the women’s team won Bronze in the Division 1 competition.
SUNC is proud to support the growth of Men’s Netball. We are immensely proud of our SUNC Men’s representatives, both past and present with several Men’s players going on to represent NSW and Australia. In 2025, we entered 5 mixed teams and one men’s team into the IWNA club netball competition, as well as 5 teams into the M-League competition which runs from September-December each year.
Sydney Uni Sport runs a social netball competition 4 times a year held at the netball courts in Sydney Uni Aquatic Centre. Competition days include Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. We regularly look for students to submit teams into both the mixed and women’s comps. More information about the competition can be found here.
