A five-match winning streak has virtually secured a finals berth for Sydney University in the 2010 Shute Shield competition and, after Saturday’s 50-5 demolition of West Harbour, the five teams above the Students are looking over their shoulders.

Sydney University Athletics Club distance runner Lara Tamsett added to her growing list of achievements with a win in the women’s section of the 2010 Sun-Herald City2Surf on Sunday.

With matches against seventh-placed Campbelltown and sixth-placed St George to wrap up the competition proper, Sydney University have all but secured the 2010 minor premiership in the Sydney Premier Division Australian Football competition.

Sydney Uni finished the final day of the Australian Short Course Championships’ meet with a gold medal in the Men’s 100m freestyle, 4th in the men’s 100m individual medley, 8th women’s 200m breaststroke and 13th in the 200 butterfly, and 15th in the overall pointscore.
