Sydney University Football Club has six representatives in the Australian Women’s side to meet the New Zealand Black Ferns in the final leg of the Pacific Four series in Adelaide on Saturday.

Flanker Emily Chancellor, hooker Adiana Talakai, and halfback Iliseva Batibasaga have been named in the run-on side, while prop Bridie O’Gorman, flanker Piper Duck and fullback-come-winger Lori Cramer have been named on the bench.

The Wallaroos squad were beaten 52-5 in Tauranga, New Zealand last Saturday. Barring injury, they are in contention for selection in the Wallaroos squad to contest the World Cup in October when the Aussies are slated to meet the Black Ferns on the opening night at Auckland’s Eden Park.

They returned home to hear the news that Sydney University lost the 2022 Sydney Premier Women’s rugby Grand Final for the Jack Scott Cup 23-18 to Gordon last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Emily Chancellor has signed with Harlequins in the English Women’s Premiership. The 10 cap Wallaroo will join the team in the new year following the World Cup.

In other rugby news, Sydney University Football Club’s 71-Test five-eighth Bernard Foley has been recalled into the Wallaby squad after a three-year absence for two Rugby Championship matches against South Africa. Foley last turned out for the Wallabies at Japan’s 2019 Rugby World Cup.

And SUFC’s Stu Dunbar has been named in the Australian Sevens squad for the Final Round of the World Series in Los Angeles this weekend. The squad heads into the Final Round of the series just two points behind Commonwealth Games gold medalists South Africa and in search of their maiden World Rugby Sevens Series title.
