Sydney University Football Club (SUFC) will head down to Melbourne this weekend to verse Melbourne University Rugby Football Club (MURFC), in what is set to be an epic battle for the University’s honour.

This year marks the 100 year anniversary of the first match between SUFC and MURFC. And to celebrate this achievement an exhibition match will be played on Saturday 6th June on the University’s main oval.

SUSF President’s XV shall contain a front row full of wisdom – with most of the front rowers amassing over 100 games each, for the club.

Players such as Ben Daly, Jason Reilly, Mark Avery and Trevor Walsh stepped out onto the field for SUFC before some of the Colts, who are set to appear in the backs, were even born.

Young gun Matt Walker shall return to rugby this year after missing 2008 through injury. Matt was vice-captain of the Kings School 1st XV in 2007, and is currently playing 1st Colts for SUFC.

The team shall be coached by Greg Mumm, current Director of Rugby at SUFC.

University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor Dr Michael Spence and his family will travel to Melbourne to be special guests at the match.
