Sydney University were on the receiving end of a 113-run loss in their Round 8 NSW Premier Cricket Limited Overs match against Mosman at University Oval on Saturday.

Having won the toss and elected to bowl, the Students were taken to task as the visitors rattled up 8-312 off their 50 overs, thanks to opener Nick Browne’s 95 and solid contributions from the middle order.

Browne’s 86-ball knock included 12 boundaries, while Peter Forrest (47), Ryan Hicks (46), Nathan Hinton (42) and Shehan Sinnetamby (40 not out) kept the scoreboard ticking. Leg-spinner Devlin Malone claimed 3-45 from his 10 overs.

Sydney University were then rolled for 199 off 36.3 overs, with Tim Cummins top scoring with 69 off 59 balls. His innings included eight boundaries and a pair of 6s.

Sydney University will meet Penrith at Howell Oval in another Limited Overs fixture next Saturday.

The University’s Second Grade moved into the Albert Cup top six with their 122-run win over Mosman at Allan Border-Mosman Park.

Their decision to bat first paid off when they reached 9-303 off their 50 overs. The middle order of Ryan Danne (78) and Andrew Hazard (67) put on a 153-run partnership, while openers Charles Litchfield (43) and Wilf La Fontaine Jackson (33) set the scene with a 67-run partnership. And No.6 Ravi Wikramanayake chipped in with an unbeaten 34.

The Students then rolled Mosman for 181 off 38.4 overs, with Hayden McCarthy (3-37), Jed Collins (2-22), Harrison May (2-35) and Thomas Siede (2-52) causing the damage. Henry Hurle top scored for the hosts with his 77 including five boundaries and six over the pickets.

Sydney University’s unbeaten Third Grade maintained the Mitchell Cup lead with a four-wicket win over Mosman at St Paul’s College Oval.

Skipper Matthew Powys hit an unbeaten 132 as the Students posted 6-284 off 49.1 overs in reply to Mosman’s 9-283.

Harry Hannell led the Mosman scoring with 62, while Luka Flannigan claimed 3-40 off his eight overs for the University.

Meanwhile, Sydney University’s Fourth Grade moved into the top six in the Reid Cup with a 37-run win over Mosman at Rawson Oval.

Opener Raveen Ganesh (66) and No.3 Avijay Kaharaj (52) led the scoring as the students amassed 6-257. They then held Mosman to 7-218 off their 50 overs, with Ethan Blount (83) and Lachlan Border (56) the main contributors.

And Sydney University’s Fifth Grade moved into fourth place on the David Sherwood Cup ladder with an exciting five-run win over Mosman at Camperdown Park.

The Students posted 221 off 45.2 overs on the back of Mitchell Cotton (42), Benjamin Crawford (38) and Ryan Drake (27 not out) before dismissing Mosman for 216 off 49.5 overs, with Will Elliott (3-24) and Lewis Wells (3-54) the main wicket-takers.
