Sydney University openers Nick Larkin and Ryan McElduff will be chasing down a big target when they start day 2 of the Round 3 NSW Premier Cricket Belvidere Cup tussle with Penrith at University Oval next Saturday.

The visitors declared at 9-319 just before stumps on day 1 and the hosts were 0-13 at the end of the day.

Penrith’s big total came on the back of solid contributions from Henry Railz (66), Brent Williams (50), Nick Adamas (45), Jordon Watson (45) and skipper Ryan Gibson (38). The best of the Sydney University toilers were Ryan McElduff (3-64) and Devlin Malone (3-85).

Sydney University Seconds finished day 1 of their Albert Cup match against Penrith with 324 on the board thanks to a fine century from Ryan Danne. The No.4 cracked 143 runs, including 12 boundaries and one over the rope at Howell Oval. Other contributors in the big total included Don Butchart (48), George Barlow (26), Jack Hill (25) and Peter Brazel (24).

Sydney University Thirds will resume at 0-5, chasing down Penrith’s 272, in their Mitchell Cup clash at St Paul’s Oval, while the Fourths finished day 1 with Penrith on 8-201 in their Reid Cup match at Bill Ball Oval. Marrickville Oval saw Fifth Grade bowl Penrith out for 165 and the Students are 4-57 in reply.
