The Sydney University women’s rugby team kick started their season on Saturday defeating their hometown rivals, the Warringah Rats, 21-17.

The Rats were able to take advantage of the lack of Uni’s seasoned players (many of whom were unavailable due to injury) to score the first few tries.

Despite being on the back foot, Uni began to claw their way back into the game.

‘Player’s Player’ Alexandra Hargreaves broke through the Warringah line twice to set up two fantastic tries for Uni.

With a few minutes left on the clock, and Uni down by one point, Uni’s Faz Hayati set up the final tyy of the game to seal a come from behind victory.

This Saturday the ladies play Rockdale at 2pm at C A Redmond Field.
