Sydney University Volleyball Club replicated their 2008 performance when they won the 2009 State Volleyball League (SVL) trophy, after five of the eight State League teams finished in the top four.

Although the club had to share the trophy with Baulkham Hills this year – nothing could take away from the fact that both the Women’s Honours and Men’s Juniors finished as premiers.

Women’s Honours (First Grade) defeated Sydney North (SNV) 3-0 to clinch the SVL Title for the third year in a row.

“The Men’s Juniors (Under 17s) finished in style, playing easily their best game of the season in defeating Baulkham Hills 3-1,” SUVC treasurer Yaegan Doran said.

In other results, Men’s Division 2 defeated Baulkham Hills to finish 3rd, Men’s Honours took out 4th place after a series of injuries and player movements overseas, and Women’s Juniors also took out 4th place.

The club now turns its focus to the Men’s National League (AVL) which begins in Brisbane, on October 16.
