Sydney University Australian National Football Club’s (SUANFC) Seniors have won their third game in a row, beating Balmain by 23 points over the weekend.

The Seniors showed great resolve to defeat Balmain on a wet weather affected Oval no.1 running out winners 94 to 71. This follows wins over last year’s minor premiers University of New South Wales/ Eastern Suburbs and St. George in the previous two weeks.

The win takes Sydney University to within one game of the top five. Gary Burch, Tim Barton, Mitch Thompson were among the Seniors’ best as was captain, Mark Egan who kicked five goals.

Roger Moten, SUANFC Seniors coach, said the team had worked hard at training to post some solid wins.

Chas Wilkinson, Vice President at SUANFC, said the win comes as the consolidation of a month of hard work through the toughest weeks of the season.

“During the wet weeks, sides can fall away and lose intensity, it’s great to see the team working together to consolidate individual efforts at a team and club level,” said Wilkinson.

In Foxtel’s match of the week, the Seniors side now play the undefeated league leaders, East Coast Eagles, this Sunday at Oval 1 at 2pm in what will test the side’s midfield and defensive structure.
