Universities Women’s Cricket Club’s, Alex Blackwell, has been recognised as the best Australian female cricketer after a blazing domestic summer.

Blackwell scored 372 runs this summer at an average of 62 runs per game and made her second century for NSW smashing 101 not out off 116 balls against South Australia. Seeing her be named Women’s National Cricket League’s ‘Player of the Year’.


During the Women’s World Cricket Cup, Blackwell scored 190 runs, averaging 38 runs a game. As vice captain, she top her highest score was 54 runs in a game against India.


She is the second consecutive Wolf Brakers player to win this award after, fellow Universities team mate, Lisa Sthalekar claimed the title in 2007/2008.


U.W.C.C. combines the women’s teams of two of Sydney’s most prestigious clubs, UNSW and Sydney University.


The Universities First Grade team will take on Bankstown this Sunday, at Bankstown, in the first semi final.
