SUSF scholarship Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holders and Sydney Uni Hockey Club (SUHC) representatives Nina Khoury, Mathilda Carmichael and Georgina Morgan have been selected in the Australia U21 Women’s Training Squad for the Junior World Cup following their performances at last week’s U21 Women’s National Hockey Championships in Darwin.

Khoury (Bachelor of Commerce/Laws), Carmichael (Bachelor of Medical Sciences) and Morgan (Bachelor of Applied Sciences {Exercise Physiology}) were all part of the NSW team that were undefeated throughout the Championships before suffering a heart-breaking 3-2 penalty stroke shoot-out loss to Queensland in Sunday night’s grand final.

Fellow SUSF EAP scholarship holders and Sydney University women’s metro league team mates Kalindi Commerford (Bachelor of Health Science), Caitlin Rosser (Bachelor of Medical Science), Maddison Rosser (Bachelor of Medical Science) and Cara Simpson (Bachelor of Commerce/Law) were also part of the NSW team.

Khoury was part of the Australian Jillaroos (U21) squad that won the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in January, while Carmichael and Morgan will also hope to make the final squad of 18 (trimmed from 25) for the 2013 Junior World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany, from 27 July until 4 August.

The Jillaroos qualified for the 2013 Junior World Cup by winning the Oceania Continental Federation Championship in March where they beat New Zealand in three matches.
