Four Sydney University fencers represented Australia at the 2025 Senior Asian Fencing Championship in Bali last week, testing themselves against some of the strongest competition in the region.

Colin Chen competed in the Men’s Individual Sabre, finishing 41st. Chen, who also coaches sabre locally, continues to gain valuable experience at this level as he pushes to climb the international rankings.

In the women’s Sabre, Lorraine Tang placed 36th. Tang fenced strongly through the pools and knockout rounds, building on her solid results in domestic competitions.

Amelie Yee lined up in the Women’s Épée finishing 41st in the event. The event provided a tough test, but Yee gained more international experience that will serve her well in future tournaments.

In the same event Genevieve Gilarski came 48th in the same event. In a tough field, but the experience will no doubt help as she looks ahead to future competitions.

From everyone here at Sydney Uni Sport, we would like to congratulate Colin, Lorraine, Amelie and Genevieve on representing Australia and stepping up on the international stage.
