Sydney University Handball Club has once again proven its strength on the international stage, claiming the Oceania Handball Club Championship with an empathic 30-19 victory over the University of Queensland in the final.

The highly anticipated all-Australian final against The University of Queensland took place after both teams emerged unbeaten from their respective pool matches. However, when it came to the decision. Sydney Uni left no doubt, having previously won all three finals played against UQ in 2019, 2022, and 2024, once again establishing an early lead after just 9 minutes, 7-2.

From the opening whistle, Sydney Uni set the pace, with their fast and aggressive play leaving the University of Queensland scrambling to keep up. It is anchored by a rock-solid defence and clinical attacking combinations, dominating every phase of the game.

The University of Queensland was never able to recover, with six goals from Alexandre Coindevel Vailiamee and five goals each from Maximilian Kessler and Noe Carriere. Sydney ran away with the final score, 30-19, a clear testament to Sydney Uni’s tactical discipline, superior fitness, and tournament experience.

This decisive win marks another milestone for the club, who now qualify for the 2025 IHF Men’s Super Globe, the world club championship to be held in Egypt. The IHF Super Globe features top clubs from each continental federation, and Sydney Uni will represent Oceania as its reigning champions.

With multiple Oceania titles and international appearances already under their belt. Sydney Uni remains the most successful club in the region’s history. The team now turns its attention to preparing for the global stages, where they’ll compete against some of the world’s professional clubs.
