Sydney Uni Sport and NSWIS sailor Otto Henry is back on the international stage this week, competing at French Olympic Week in Hyéres, France.

One of Australia’s top young 49ers sailors, Otto, is coming off a strong showing at the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Regatta in Spain and is looking to build on that momentum. Racing alongside teammate Shaun Connor, he’ll take on a world-class fleet at one of the sport’s most challenging regattas – a perfect opportunity to sharpen their skills and gain valuable international experience.

Through the Sydney Uni Sport Elite Athlete program, Otto has balanced his studies with elite competition, pushing himself on and off the water. Events like French Olympic Week are the key part of the journey, offering the chance to race under pressure and test themselves against the world’s best.

Australian Sailing High-Performance Director Ian Brambell said international regattas are crucial for developing the next wave of talent. “French Olympic Week offers an excellent test for each of the Australian sailors here to build on the learnings from Palma, push their limits, and establish early-season performances.”

Otto is one of six Australian 49er teams competing in Hyères alongside fellow Sydney Uni Sports athletes Harry Price and Max Paul. This week is about building towards future success and working hard for all three.

From everyone here at Sydney Uni Sport, we wish Otto all the best with his upcoming races.
