Sydney University Water Polo has been officially named 2025 Australian Water Polo League (AWL) Club champions, following a season of exceptional performance across both men’s and women’s divisions.
The Sydney Uni women’s team delivered outstanding performances throughout the season, culminating in a hard-fought gold medal match against the Griffith University Queensland Thunder, unfortunately to go down 12-10, with Keesja Gofers, Anni and Clara Espar Llaquet scoring two goals respectively. With this valiant effort the teams secured the silver medal, underscoring their resilience and high level of play.
In the men’s division, the Sydney Uni team showcased its competitive edge by clinching the bronze medal with an 18-10 win over the Fremantle Mariners. Zac Izzard was the standout with five goals.
The combined success of both teams has earned Sydney University Water Polo Club the prestigious Club Champions title for the 2025 AWL season. This accolade reflects the club’s consistent excellence and commitment to fostering top-tier talent.
