Sydney University Alumni and Elite Athlete Phoebe Cridland is set to compete at the 2025 FIS Nordic Ski World Championship in Trondheim, Norway, as part of Australia’s largest World Championship team in a decade.

Cridland’s journey in cross-skiing began at a young age, competing in Inter-School competitions for PLC Sydney before attending SCEGGS.

Her talent was evident early, and she was selected for the Australian Junior Cross Country Ski Team at just 15 years old. Since then, she has competed in multiple World Junior Championships, Under-23 Championships, and the 2023 FIS Nordic World Ski Championship in Planica, Slovenia.

Cridland’s selection for the 2025 Nordic Ski Championship is a testament to her continued rise in the sport. Nine of the ten athletes on the Australian team have been competing on the World Cup circuit this season, showcasing the country’s growing presence in international cross-country skiing. Cridland joins an experienced team, with many athletes returning from the 2023 World Championship.

The upcoming event will be particularly special, as Australia is set to enter both men’s and women’s relay teams. This will mark the first Australian women’s relay team at the World Championship since 2017.

In addition to her competitive achievements, Cridland is also involved in preparing for competition on the world stage. With her sights set on future World Cups and the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Phoebe is a formidable force in Australian cross-country skiing.

From everyone at Sydney Uni Sport we would like to congratulate Phoebe on her pursuit of Excellence, with the Championship beginning on the February 26th.
