Noémie Fox has captured the hearts of Australia overnight winning Gold in the inaugural Kayak Cross final. The victory not only marks a career-defining performance but also cements her family legacy in the sport, with older sister Jess winning the two other events the C-1 and K1 Canoe Slalom.

Noémie has strong connection to Sydney University graduating with a bachelor’s in media and communication in 2019 and a master’s in management in 2021.

Fox had to qualify in four consecutive races to win Gold, including a fine comeback in her semi-final after a slow start with only two qualifying, being able to not give up as she streamed back into the middle part to be rewarded a spot in the finals.

With a crowd of 10,000 spectators watching on at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium in what was a dramatic final. Fox benefited from the more beneficial right-hand side starting position. After the initial exchanges, Fox found herself in second position behind Great Britain’s Kimberley Woods, both competitors going strong, with an excellent Eskimo roll, this saw Noemie take the lead and never look back, she was able to cross the line ahead the French local Angele Hug, and Woods who then followed for bronze.

Noemie said:” It feels surreal, it’s crazy it’s mine” Furthermore goes on to say, “You don’t dare to dream this big, but I did this time, and I dared to dream to get to the Olympics and then to get to that final”.

On behalf of everyone at Sydney Uni Sport,, we congratulate Noémie on her achievement in Paris and wish her all the best with her upcoming events.
