Sydney University Soccer Football Club’s women’s teams will contest grand finals In the NPL NSW Reserve Grade, Under 18 and Under 16 competitions at Valentine Sports Park this Sunday.
The Students’ Reserve Grade defeated Apia-Leichhardt 2-1 in their semi-final last weekend to earn a berth in the season decider at noon on Sunday. They will meet Football Institute NSW, who earnt a grand final berth with a 4-2 win over Blacktown Spartans in their semi-final.
Football NSW Institute headed the Reserve Grade ladder at the end of the season proper, with Sydney University, APIA Leichhardt and Blacktown Spartans making up the top four.
Sydney University Under 18s will meet Football Institute NSW in a season decider at 2pm on Sunday, while the Under 16s will meet Blacktown Spartans at noon on Sunday.
Sydney University’s NPL NSW Women’s First Grade side missed a grand final appearance after finishing minor premiers with 16 wins, three draws and three losses at the end of the season proper. APIA Leichhardt, Macarthur Rams and Northern Tigers made up the top four.
Macarthur Rams drew 1-all with APIA Leichhardt in their preliminary final at Valentine Sports Park last Saturday. But Northern Tigers caused an upset in their semi-final the following day, inflicting a 3-nil result over Sydney University and ending their season. The Tigers will meet Macarthur Rams in the First Grade grand final after Rams defeated APIA in extra time semi-final.
