Sydney University Football Club prop Paddy Ryan played for the Barbarians in their 31-all draw with South Africa at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The NSW and Wallabies representative missed out on selection in the Wallabies Spring Tour squad, making him available for Barbarians selection.
And Barbarians coach Robbie Deans had no hesitation calling on him for the Springboks European tour opener.
Ryan has seven SUFC teammates on the Spring tour in fullback Israel Folau, five-eighth Bernard Foley, hooker Tolu Latu, flanker Dean Mumm, halfback Nick Phipps, prop Tom Robertson and second-rower Will Skelton.
Latu made his Wallabies debut in Australia’s 32-8 win over Wales at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, on Sunday (AEDT).
