Saturday 16 July saw the running of the NSW Road Relay Championships. The women were outstanding, taking the win in a new state record time, while the men ran a strong fourth.

The women’s ‘A’ team were represented by Holly Campbell, Jess Pascoe, Paige Campbell and Milly Clark. The standout was Clark who split the fastest leg of the day running 12.49 for the 4km course, her time the fastest ever run on the course by a female. Clark will run the marathon in Rio and looks to be in awesome shape. Jess Pascoe ran 13.15 for Sydney Uni Athletics Club (SUAC) which is an exceptionally quick time for the course as well, especially considering she is a junior. Pascoe will take up a scholarship at the University of Florida in a month’s time. Just for good measure the Campbell sisters both broke 14 minutes as well.

The womens ‘B’ team of Rosie Weber, Marina Carrier, Sarah Marvin and Joanna Cubis finished 4th. The women’s ‘C’ team of Erin Blundell, Georgina Pembroke, Larissa Stanley and Catherine Heil were 8th.

In the men’s event, the ‘A’ team of Joe Burgess, Ben Cross, Russell Dessaix- Chin and Alex Pettigrew were 4th, with Joe Burgess running the quickest split for SUAC at 12.01.

In the Winter Premiership SUAC lead the women’s competition by a healthy margin, with the men’s team sitting in third position. There are three events remaining in the Winter Premiership with the next event the NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships to be held July 30th in Wollongong.
