Sydney Uni Soccer Football Club are facing quite a bit of adversity with their Premier League women’s team facing off against rivals Macarthur Rams and ladder chasers the North West Sydney Koalas all within a matter of days.
The women’s side had a bye over the weekend; however they will play a mid-season catch up game against the Macarthur Rams during the week. The girls will need to be at their very best as the Rams were the team the Students knocked off in last year’s thrilling 5-4 National Premier League Grand Final victory. The team will need to quickly recover for a top of the table clash with the North West Sydney Koalas only three days later. Our girls will lock up top spot if they can get past the Koalas. The last time they met the Students came through with a big 1-0 away win. The girls will be playing this Sunday at 3pm on the Sydney University Football Ground and welcome the support of their USYD fans!
Unfortunately over the weekend our men’s side was edged out by Hawkesbury City in a tight contest. The 1-0 loss was a disappointing result for the Students considering it was a home game and Hawkesbury are at the bottom tear of the ladder. Despite the disappointing result, the men are still sitting in fifth position and are well in the hunt for a playoff berth. The men will look to turn their form around this Saturday night as they take on the Hills Brumbies. We wish the club the best of luck in competition over the weekend.
