Australian coach Michael Cheika has named seven Sydney University Football Club members in the 33-man squad to contest the Cook Cup series opener against England at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, on Saturday.
Utility back Israel Folau, five-eighth Bernard Foley, halfback Nick Phipps and locks Sam Carter, Ben McCalman, Dean Mumm and Will Skelton made the cut when Cheika named the squad on Sunday after a training camp at Caloundra.
“We had a great week (in camp) and the competition for spots has been intense during each of the sessions,” the coach said.
“All of the players in the broader squad will be picked at some points during the (three-Test) series, and I know that any of them could step in if asked at any time.”
The squad includes 22 members of the Wallabies’ 2015 World Cup squad.
