Current Elite Athlete Program member and University of Sydney Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) student, Chloe Dalton, has made history with the Australian women’s rugby sevens team as they claimed their first-ever Sevens World Series title after a win over Spain.

Dalton proved pivotal in the Pearls 35-0 thrashing of the Spaniards in Clermont-Ferrand, totalling 15 points through a try and five conversions.

This quarter-final victory ensured Australia enough points to be declared the overall champions. The result was made even more memorable given Spain had eliminated Australia at the same stage of the tournament in 2013.

The girls in gold will now head to the Rio Olympics as favourites, with Dalton in serious contention for squad selection.
