Two more Sydney Uni representatives have been selected in the Australian Universities team for the World University Rugby Sevens to be held in Swansea, Great Britain, from 06 – 09 July, 2016.
Former Elite Athlete Program Member and current Sydney Uni Women’s Rugby Club player, Emily Chancellor, and Sydney University student, Michael Adams, are set to represent Australia at the 7th Edition of the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) World University Championship to be hosted at the Swansea University International Sports Village.
Current Elite Athlete Program member studying a Bachelor of Science at USYD, Matt Narracott, and former Elite Athlete Program member, Justin Fourie, both of Sydney Uni Football Club, secured their spot in the men’s team to be coached by Hugh Carpenter and Jason Grier earlier in the year.
Narracott proved a standout in the 2015 Sydney Uni Men’s Australian Uni Games squad, selected in the Green and Gold team after a fantastic tournament.
FISU encourages top performances in international competitions in harmony with and complementary to the values of higher education – a goal shared by the SUSF Elite Athlete Program.
Rugby Sevens entered the programme of the FISU World University Championships in 2004 which resulted in 159 rugby players from 9 countries competing in Beijing (CHN), and SUSF are proud to be contributing athletes to the 2016 event.
SUSF congratulates our four representatives and wish them the very best in their preparations for the Championship.
