Sydney University Cricket Club (SUCC) together with Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) proudly announce the confirmation of an incredibly generous donation to the Club with Mr Barry Lambert donating $170,000 to support of our vision of a cricketing centre of excellence.

Mr Lambert has a strong affinity with cricket and in particular, cricket on the NSW North Coast. With SUCC boasting a deep roster of members, both former and current, from the North Coast, this donation will allow the club to strengthen its support of country cricketers looking to achieve success in both the sporting and educational fields at The University of Sydney.

Mr Lambert is well known to philanthropy at The University of Sydney having previously committed to the single largest donation in the university’s history, and this latest donation is his first major contribution towards sport at the university.

The donation has been allocated to SUSF’s ‘Building on Excellence’ Fund, primarily to support the setup of the new three-pitch indoor cricket facility, to be known as the Martin Lambert Indoor Nets in the TAG Family Grandstand (formerly No. 2 Oval). For those who kept a close eye on our finals campaign, SUCC were able to make use of this brilliant facility in its hunt for premiership glory, and it certainly played a hand in that success by allowing an interruption free preparation to the semi-final and grand final.

The club would like to thank our Club President, Mr Bruce Collins QC, the University of Sydney’s Vice-Principal (Advancement), Mr Tim Dolan, and SUSF’s Executive Director, Mr Robert Smithies for their efforts in securing this donation.

Finally, we would like to sincerely thank Mr Lambert for sharing in our vision for cricketing excellence, and for his willingness to contribute such a significant amount to ensuring that vision becomes a reality.
