From Badu Island to No.2 Oval, Nathaniel Tamwoy of the 2016 SUSF Elite Athlete Program will make his next mark playing for Sydney Uni Football Club (SUFC) while studying a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy).

It was through meeting SUFC’s Mitch Whiteley at a 2013 camp that Tamwoy found his way to Sydney University. Since this time, the talented athlete and proud Argun man from Badu Island has developed through the kickstart program at AFL Cape York House, where he boarded during his secondary education.

While the AFL program proved a positive springboard for Tamwoy, Rugby Union is where he sees his future. Having toured the United States with an under-20s National Indigenous Rugby Union team last year, Tamwoy is now training with SUFC and will commence his USYD studies this week.

As one of the first to test out the newly redeveloped paddock that is No.2 Oval, SUSF welcomes Tamwoy and looks forward to seeing his growth and success through our Elite Athlete Program.

Further background on Tamwoy’s story so far can be found here.
