Sydney Uni Athletics Club has won both the men’s and women’s 2015 Winter Premiership.

For the men this was their fifth consecutive victory, with the women taking out the Premiership for the third consecutive year.

The competition runs from April to September using a cumulative point score across a large number of cross country and road races throughout NSW.

The men’s team were clear winners this year having secured their win in the Premiership with one race remaining on the calendar. The women needed to put in a strong performance over the weekend at the NSW Marathon Championships to get the win which fortunately they were able to do winning the team’s event which was held in conjunction with the Blackmore Sydney Running Festival.

Other SUAC results from the weekend’s Sydney Running Festival included Danielle Allen 2nd in the Bridge Run and Melinda Witchard placing 3rd. In the mens race, Jack Colreavy was 4th and great to see Russ Dessaix-Chin back amongst it finishing a very credible 6th having his first race back after recovering from a very serious road accident

In the half marathon Milly Jane Clark was 2nd, with Miles Waring running 8th in the mens race.

Milly Clark will also be crowned the female NSW Distance Runner of the Year in 2015. Milly is an enormous contributor to SUAC’s Winter campaign every year. Milly will next contest the Amsterdam marathon where she will chase an Olympic qualifying time over the distance.
