City of Sydney/Sydney Uni are the 2015 DOOLEYS State League Waratah Cup Champions.
Our netball first grade team performed spectacularly in the pinnacle game of their season, defeating Eastwood Ryde, 53-40, at Netball Central on Wednesday evening.
Minor Premiers City of Sydney showed why they finished top of the ladder, converting costly turnovers from their opposition to push out their lead.
Victorious Head Coach Jenny O’Keeffe praised the strength of competition which drew crowd attention to the court for the full 60 minutes.
“It was an amazing contest out there; worthy of a Grand Final! Eastwood really took it to us and we had some very, very nervous moments but really proud of our girls’ composure,” O’Keeffe stated.
“I’m so proud of how the team stepped up to the challenge, they stuck to their guns and kept on going with the game plan and absolutely pulled it through in the end – that last quarter was superb.”
The 2015 President’s Medal for Most Valuable Player went to City of Sydney Centre, Nikki Deegenaars, with her impressive midcourt zone possession channelling the ball for shooters to capitalise on the scoreboard.
In the end, City of Sydney refused to give up the challenge for Championship honours and finished 13 goal victors.
Please join us in congratulating our deserving 2015 Premiers and all Club support staff for their continued efforts and dedication throughout the season. SUSF are incredibly proud.
