After completing week one of the Winter Premiership, SUAC lead both the men’s and women’s events after showcasing a dominant display of distance running over a picturesque course at Scarborough Park.

In the men’s novice event David Mulvee took out the 10km event for SUAC. Other SUAC performances included Roan Casey 4th, Vincent Donnadiue 6th, Julian Baker 7th, Robert Alexanderson 8th, Andrew Heil 17th, and James Polson 35th.

In the 10km Allcomer event for the men, SUAC finishers included Jack Colreavy 2nd, Ben Cross 3rd, Dave Hutchison 4th, Sam Colless 6th and Linden Smith 7th.

In the women’s novice event Emily Ryan was the winner for SUAC, making it only the third time in the history of the event that the same club had won both men’s and women’s novice races. This is a huge achievement and a testament to the coach and director of Athletics at Sydney Uni, Dean Gleeson. Other SUAC competitors in this event included Joanna Cubis 9th, Georgina Pembroke 11th, Jenny O’Sullivan 26th and Holly Cormack 27th.

In the women’s Allcomer 10km event Milly Clark was 1st, Miranda Middleton was 3rd, Rosie Weber 4th, and Nicole Fagan 6th.

The strong performances in all four races see SUAC leading the men’s Winter Premiership by 18 points from Bankstown. The SUAC women lead the Winter Premiership by just one point from long time rivals Athletics East. SUAC are the defending champions in both the men and women’s Winter Premiership competition.

The next round of the competition will be held in conjunction with the Sydney Ten which will be held Saturday May 2nd, where a strong showing from SUAC is expected.
