At the NSW 3000 metre Championships held on Saturday evening at Homebush Sydney University Athletic Club’s Kate Spencer was crowned the NSW champion running a slick 9.09 minutes to beat home Commonwealth games representative Madeleine Heiner. SUAC’s Milly Clark also ran well finishing 4th in 9.17 having sliced almost ten seconds off her personal best.
On the same afternoon Round 4 of the Treloar Shield was also completed at Homebush. SUAC has further increased it’s lead in the Open division and is now more than 700 points clear of nearest rival UTS Norths. There were some strong performances on the afternoon across a variety of events, the highlight coming from Kassandra Vegas who broke her own club record to win the women’s hammer with a throw 47.28 metres, Vegas also won the Discus earlier in the day.

Elizabeth Jenkins: 2nd in the 100m, 2nd in the 400m
Maddy Bergfield: 2nd in the discus
Courtney Schultz: 3rd in the 400m
Tavellen Singh: 3rd in the 100m
Becky Clark: 2nd in the U/20 discus
James Ellis: 3rd in the U/18 110 hurdles
This coming weekend SUAC athletes will compete at the NSW State Relay Championships where the club has entered a record number of teams, with 23 women’s and 27 men’s teams competing over the two days of competition.
