Sydney University Fencing Club member Sholto Douglas just missed out on a gold medal in the men’s foil at the Asian Under 23 Fencing Championships held in Manila, Philippines, last week.
Sholto, a first year Engineering/Commerce student, went down 15-13 in the gold medal showdown which was won by Hanseok Lee, of Korea.
Silver medallist Sholto reached the final after defeating Korean Jaeyoung An in a close semi-final encounter.
He had earlier come from 0-7 down to win his quarter-final 15-10.
