In Saturday’s grade grand finals, played in wet and windy conditions at Concord Oval, Sydney University Third Grade won the Henderson Shield with a 31-8 result over Warringah, and Fourth Grade won the Henderson Cup with a 20-8 result over Eastwood.

Manly Second Grade defeated Sydney University Seconds 34-13 to win the Colin Caird Shield. With Sydney University First Grade having dipped out of contention in the semi-finals, Eastwood went on to win the 2014 Shute Shield with a 33-13 result over Southern Districts.

The Colts grand finals were played in similar conditions at Forshaw Rugby Park on Sunday, with Sydney University in contention in the three grades.

Randwick won the First Grade Colts title for the W. McMahon Memorial Shield with a 23-17 result over Sydney University.

But Sydney University triumphed in the Shell Trophy for the Second Grade title with a tight 13-12 win over Manly, and Third Grade won the Bill Simpson Shield with a three-nil win over Manly.

SUFC won the Gregor George Cup for the overall Club Championship and the Eric Spilstead Shield for the Colts Club Championship.

Sydney University also reached the grand final of the Sydney Women’s competition but lost the decider 19-7 to Rockdale at Granville Oval.

Meanwhile, the same six SUFC players who were in the 24-man squad for the First Bledisloe Cup Test against the All Blacks in Sydney last Saturday have retained their spots in the squad for the second Test, to be played at Eden Park, Auckland, this Saturday.

Fullback Israel Folau and second-rower Sam Carter have been named in the starting line-up, while halfback Nick Phipps, five-eighth Bernard Foley and second-rower Will Skelton have been named on the bench, with backrower Ben McCalman the 24th man.
