A host of Sydney Uni Taekwondo Club representatives picked up medals at the annual NSW Taekwondo State Championships held on Sunday at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.

In the sparring competition, Tracy Paez (gold), Konnie Chang, Clara Choi (silver) and Francesca Wong (bronze) all medalled.

Yunsi Feng, Francesca Wong and Hannah Mugford won women’s Poomsae team gold. Danny Ngyuen and James Diaz did the same in the men’s Poomsae team event.

In the individual Poomsae competition, Clara Choi, Danny Ngyuen, James Diaz, Yunsi Feng and Hannah Mugford won gold medals; Konnie Chang and Rosa Park won silver; and Francesca Wong finished with bronze.

Rounding off the day, Hannah Mugford won gold in the creative Poomsae event.

“The club would like to congratulate all of their competitors and thank them, their coaches and SUSF elite athlete scholarship holders – Sam Yang and Jessica Moro – who gave up their Sunday to help coach the team to the success that they produced,” said the 2014  Sydney Uni Taekwondo Club Committee.

“We could not have done it without you. Also, of course to Master Hong. Additionally, the club would like to thank our awesome Poomsae volunteers, who made sure everything ran as smoothly as possible and everyone who came and cheered the team on.”
