The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames have re-signed their 2013/14 Most Improved award winner Casey Samuels to a two year contract.

Samuels joins former WNBL MVP and Australian Opals player Rohanee Cox, WNBL veteran Lauren King and boom youngster Tahlia Tupaea in committing their future to the club.

The Sydney junior spoke of her excitement of re-signing for the Flames after a successful 2013/14 season where she was presented with the Flames Most Improved award.

“I am really looking forward to be playing with the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames for another two seasons,” said Samuels.

“I thoroughly enjoyed playing here last season, so to be involved with this program and Karen (Dalton) again is just great. I look forward to my game developing further and I’m hopeful that we are going to have a successful season.”

Samuels had a very good 2013/14 season with the Flames, playing in each of the clubs 24 games – many of them in a starting spot. She averaged 6.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Brydens Sydney Uni Flames Head Coach, Karen Dalton was very pleased with the re-signing of Samuels, saying “Casey is one of the up and coming players of the WNBL and she made great inroads last season.”

“Casey is a great athlete and I am really looking forward to working with her over the next couple of years. It’s also great that we have re-signed another local Sydney junior.”
