CSNA/Sydney Uni Waratah Cup goal shooter Claudia Russell has helped the NSW Under 21 netball team to a bronze medal at the 2014 Under 21 National Netball Championships.
Held in Adelaide, South Australia from March 11-16, NSW finished third behind hosts South Australia and Victoria after thrashing Queensland 70-28 in the bronze medal playoff.
Russell’s NSW team lost just two games all weekend – both were against silver medallists Victoria.
Russell’s Waratah Cup teammate Georgia Marshall was unable to be part of the NSW team, despite earning selection in the squad. The NSW under 17 captain was ruled out after a glitch with her application. She instead turned out for ACT as an ‘import player’. Despite performing incredibly well, Marshall’s ACT team were unable to clinch a finals berth.
