The Sydney University Rugby League Football Club looks to be in great shape for the upcoming NSW Tertiary Rugby League competition, following two promising trial games against Cumberland outfits on Sunday.

Held at St Johns Oval at the University of Sydney, Sydney Uni’s division one team drew 16-16 with Cumberland, while the clubs division two team also performed well against a team made up of division one and two teams. The two results point to some very strong squad depth across the club.

The club welcomed Adam Sarkis to the division one team and he made an immediate impact on proceedings, while Scott Bunch and Jordon Sio led the forwards with power and composure. The division one team was solid throughout, and were unlucky not to get their first win of the season, with Cumberland scoring a late try to draw the game. It was an exciting game and there was solid improvement from the clubs first trial game against UWS a week earlier.

Both division one and two teams demonstrated a keen willingness to defend in a solid pattern and work hard for each other. In particular, Kazuki Fukushige, Matt Mack and Elias Dagher had great games for the division two team.

The team would like to thank all the supporters who came to watch the boys prepare for the 2014 season.
