The Sydney Uni Fencing Club collected five medals across two NSW Fencing Association competitions held in Marrickville over the last couple of weeks.

On Sunday February 16, Margarita Sokolovskaja and Katherine Kwa made it a one-two finish in the women’s foil. While in the men’s foil, Simon Capon finished third and SUSF Elite Athlete Program scholarship holder Matthew Donald (Bachelor of Nursing {Advanced}) finished fifth. Harriet Jordan (third) and Fatma Onal (10th) also competed well in the women’s sabre.

Last weekend Damien Costello achieved his first top 10 finish (eighth) in the men’s epee. Teammate Andrew Cook finished 11th.

These results, along with Patrick Daley’s second place in the men’s foil at the 2014 Scottish Open in Edinburgh, bode well for the club who are preparing for the DH McKenzie – the first national level tournament on the year, which will be held in Melbourne March 21-23.
