After coming off the bench for her Hockeyroos debut on Wednesday night, Sydney University Hockey Club (SUHC) representative Mathilda Carmichael started last night in her team’s 3-0 victory over Canada.
The Hockeyroos scored all three goals in the first half.
A night earlier, Carmichael played her first match for the Hockeyroos, against Canada in Perth, with the scoreline also finishing 3-0 to the hosts.
Carmichael, 19, is a SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder. She has played hockey for Sydney University since 2005, starting with the Under 11’s before eventually playing for the women’s Metro League 1 team.
The defender scored in Sydney Uni’s 2-0 grand final victory over Briars last month.
The Hockeyroos commence their Oceania Cup campaign in Stratford, New Zealand, next Wednesday afternoon against rivals and hosts, the New Zealand Black Sticks. Carmichael will be hoping that she is named in the Hockeyroos Oceania Cup squad that will be announced on Friday.
