The Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) has won both the men’s and women’s open team titles at the NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships at Upjohn Park, Rydalmere on Saturday.
In the women’s race, SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Milly Clark (Bachelor of Applied Science with Masters of Nutrition) was the winner, running a personal best over the 5km course for a dominant victory. Eliza Barton (Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience) continued her great winter season to finish fourth, while Nat Archer (Bachelor of Science) and Emily Ryan (Bachelor of Nursing {Advanced Studies} finished sixth and eight respectively. The SUAC women now sit 11 points clear of rivals Athletics Easts on top of the Winter Premiership table.
In the men’s race, Sydney Uni were also well clear of second place Bankstown Sports. Jack Colreavy had his best run over the 7.5km course finishing third, with the ageless Peter Costello coming home in sixth position. Ben Liddy was the next of the SUAC men finishing eighth, with Olympian Ed Fernon (Masters of Commerce) crossing the line in 13th position. The SUAC men now lead the Winter Premiership by the enormous margin of 62 points.
The next event on the NSW Winter premiership calendar is the NSW Half Marathon Championships held at Bankstown in September.
